It is easy to think right now that you have very few choices. Wrong, you have been given the most incredible opportunity to rethink everything you believed to be you. The world has come to a grinding halt in a way that just a few months ago virtually every one of us would have said was physically impossible. This is a first for us all. This is that moment in time that movies are made of and science fiction books are written about. We are living during a “Turning point in time.” This is it.
How many times in our lives have we thought or heard someone say, “Please stop the world turning – I just want to get off….” Life was happening too fast, too much was expected of us, we were living beyond our physical and emotional means and we had forgotten that without a healthy planet we are nothing. Something had to give, and it did. The world stopped turning as we know it and we all had to get off and go home.
This time on our own has given us the one luxury we could not afford. Time to re-assess what we believe is important, time to reflect on what we want, who we actually are and time to make different choices. It is very difficult to change course when you are behind the wheel of an out of control car, it is much easier to change direction once the car has come to a stop. There can be no going back to how things were before. Things will never be the same.
"This time on our own has given us the one luxury we could not afford. Time to re-assess what we believe is important, time to reflect on what we want, who we actually are and time to make different choices."
We have been given an opportunity to change course, to make different choices. Support local business and think twice before you travel. When you step out for your take-away coffee do you remember your own reusable mug? Why buy a cheap plastic bottle of water when you can refill your own? There are hundreds of ways you and I can make a difference right now, simply by making a different choice. It is up to us – everyone of us to choose. Do you see that we have been given a second chance? It is time to turn this car around.
